PAYROLL CYCLE PROCESSES:
- Uploads timekeeping records to payroll system, generates audit reports, administers payroll process and cycle including check and ACH production, and closes payroll to general ledger and sub-ledger.
- Calculates, reconciles and remits payroll taxes/withholdings to appropriate taxing authorities within required timeframes.
- Balances and completes federal and state tax returns, and identifies and reconciles corrections for tax reporting of employee wages.
- Performs month-end accruals, annual escheatment, and statutory reporting.
- Conducts year-end close through to W-2 submission, researches IRS and state tax agency inquiries, and recommends responses.
- Build, purges and makes changes to time accrual plans (e.g., vacation, sick, paid time off).
PROCESS PAYROLL:
- Reviews and audits approved timekeeping records for appropriate pay code usage, and compliance with pay policies and practices, applicable affiliate bargaining agreements, and appropriate legal requirements.
- Processes payroll, calculates and processes retroactive adjustments, providing accurate delivery of pay statements.
- Initiates stop payments, and makes complex adjustments to employee pay and taxable wages due to voided payments, imputed income and other necessary corrections.
- Reviews and approves off-cycle payroll checks, and enters manual checks into positive pay.
OPERATIONS SUPPORT:
- Responds to audit requests from internal and external sources.
- Collaborates with Human Resources and Finance teams to solve issues relating to employee data and general ledger account or sub-account errors.
- Serves as a resource, provides end-user training, and assists in orienting and training new team members.
- Processes unemployment claims payments.
- Collaborates with Information Services to test system changes when required.
- During manager’s absence, directs workflow, makes first-line decisions, and escalates issues.

EDUCATION:
Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience.
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
4 years recent relevant experience.
ADP Workforce Now experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
Working knowledge of payroll cycle and processes and applicable payroll laws and regulations.
Knowledge of applicable wage and hour laws, payroll accounting practices, and payroll tax reporting and filing requirements.
Ability to read, comprehend, and apply policies, procedures, practices, union bargaining agreements and recordkeeping requirements.
Ability to compute and apply basic mathematical functions and computations, including percentages, decimals and prorated amounts.
Demonstrates critical thinking skills with the ability to recognize, research and resolve questionable or complex data, and to determine solution or next steps.
Ability to communicate through verbal and written means, and to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
Organization skills and attention to details.
