For the past 85 years, Kawartha Dairy has been proud to be a 100% Canadian-owned company, still operated by the same family that founded it in 1937. Although the company has grown tremendously from its early days, it remains headquartered in the lakeside community of Bobcaygeon, Ontario, where it was founded, near Peterborough, an hour north of the GTA.


Today Kawartha Dairy operates 10 retail stores and services a wide range of customers, from grocery stores to foodservice establishments and of course, ice cream parlours.


Reflecting the explosive growth in the brand and the business as a whole, Kawartha Dairy has recently constructed a 54,000-square-foot warehouse just south of Bobcaygeon to serve its provincial operations. As a part of our close-knit Production Team you are responsible for ensuring good communication and cooperation between your co-workers while safely meeting company quality and production expectations; so we may continue to efficiently provide our top-notch dairy products to our loyal customers and creating memories for families.

What You’ll Do:


  • Safely perform tasks in a multi-temperature environments (e.g. fridge/freezer)
  • Build pallet with finished product
  • Perform and record finished product lot code and track cases and pallets going out
  • Receive trucks when they return and unload cases/materials; maintain record of all returns such as cases, pallets, products, etc.
  • Segregate substandard/defective product for disposal/destruction or rework
  • Operate electric pallet truck in a safe manner to move received product
  • Lift cases of product and or stock merchandise according to procedures
  • Load and unload material onto or from pallets, trays, racks or shelves
  • Organize material neatly to easily identify product
  • Use computer to produce label and attach to materials, cases, bales or other containers
  • Process all required paperwork and maintain adequate records for reporting and tracking such as recording amounts of new product received on a daily basis
  • Work closely with Quality Assurance team to deliver and maintain food safety standards
  • Work closely with Production department to ensure scheduled production demands are met
  • Inspect products received to identify leaks or other minor defects; segregate substandard/defective product for disposal/destruction and record information related to damaged/wasted product
  • Provide general clean up and assistance in other areas of shipping/receiving; clean up includes sweeping, washing floors/walls, dumping of wasted product, picking up trash, etc.
  • Perform other duties and activities that may be assigned the position in the quest for continuous improvement.

What you Need to Get the Job Done:


  • High School Diploma required or a combination of equivalent experience
  • Previous Shipper Receiver experience strongly ideally from a food/beverage manufacturing environment
  • Good verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with others
  • Ability to discuss production issues in a constructive way with co-workers and Supervisor in a respectful, positive and collaborative manner
  • Eye/hand coordination is essential
  • Comfortable performing repetitive tasks
  • Manual dexterity and good hand-eye co-ordination
  • Extended periods of standing, and other physically demanding conditions (i.e. lifting up to 25kg)
  • Must be reliable
  • Able to work as a team member
